To my Best Friend;

Though we were not always best friends I'm glad we're closer than ever now. With your ever approaching move in date, I just have a few things I want to remind you of.

1. Be yourself.

You're a great, intelligent, beautiful human being and anyone is lucky to have you as a friend.

2. Anyone is only a phone call away.

I know this will be hard in the beginning but you can do it and I admire how determined you've been throughout this year.

3. I am so lucky to have you as my best friend.

You have been a sister to me and you have been that encouraging voice for me all throughout high school and even now. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be writing this and be able to start my career in the right direction.

We both have grown so much throughout the 12+ years of school, play dates, hangouts, Girl Scouts and basketball and I'll cherish those memories even more now. Change has always been difficult for me to accept but this is a good type of change because we're actually #Thriving.

I'll miss being a two-second car ride away from you but I'll cherish all the time that we will have in your new home state. I'll miss the memories of yelling into your backyard to see if you were home to ride bikes. I'll miss watching hillbilly baseball. I'll even miss bothering your sister at her job.

Everyone I've talked to is so proud of you and I'm even prouder to get to call my best friend.

In less then two weeks I won't see you at Dunkin or Panera. I won't see you at the mall or in your backyard. I won't see you occasionally driving to get your sister or brother from various places. I won't see you in the shed. But this is okay because we're both on a new life adventure! Trust me it's going to be intimidating at first just like anything new is but you'll get through it and soon New Hampshire will feel like home. Your own home a place where you can establish yourself and your future. Well, now I think that is a pretty optimistic outlook coming from me.

Just remember that you are capable of anything you set your mind to and are willing to do the work for it. I'm not worried too much because I know you're going to succeed.

One of my favorite actors once said: "carpe diem, seize the day" I have no doubt in my mind that you will make the most of every day at your new home. You have taught me so much growing up and I've been so grateful to God for making us best friends and I know that no matter what I will always have your back. You have supported me through everything happy and sad and I don't know what I'm going to do without you these next four years.

To my best friend who's basically my sister, I'm excited about our futures and always remember to make the most out of every day.

Love, Your BFF

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
