To Little Girls Everywhere

For every little girl that's currently growing up, I have a few words for you. Quite frankly, I have a few words I would tell myself if I was your age. You're growing up and that's okay. Trust me, it's really scary and a lot of things are going to happen in a short amount of time. Your going to start changing not only physically but mentally. You're going to see some crazy things in your life and you're going to have to challenge yourself to get passed it, but darling you've got a wonderful world ahead of you, just you wait.

Every spring, you might assume the flowers are going to blossom to a perfect soft pink with a reflection of the sun beaming down onto the bright green grass. You'll picture yourself spinning around with a gorgeous gown and living like a princess. However, you're not always going to get that. Sometimes the flowers take a little longer to bloom and the clouds hide the sun pulling away the brightness from the green and bringing it back to the brown grass of winter. I've seen this happen and allow me to be the first person to tell you that the flowers will eventually come out of hiding and the grass will be the brightest green you've ever seen.

Things take time, and while you wait for your moments, take the time to notice the little things that are happening in life. For example, to you, learning a new spelling word may seem like the worst thing in the world, but you're going to appreciate knowing that word when you're head of your office one day.

Don't let anyone tell you fairytales are fake. Because that's just a bunch of bologna. Listen, I know we all want our prince charming to sweep us off our feet, it takes time and there will be challenges, however, it's not impossible. There are still great men in this world that are going to steal your hearts with good intentions. They're going to be there for you when you need someone to cry to, and they're going to dance with you. He'll look at you like you're the only girl in the world, because that's how much you mean to him.

Lastly, you can be whatever and whoever you want to be. In fact, I challenge you to be different. Remember that it's okay to cry, but smiling is the most beautiful feature a lady can have.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
