For this week’s post, I decided to write an Open Letter to the main characters of the CW’s Jane The Virgin. The Following is an Open letter to them.
An Open Letter to Gina Rodriguez and Brett Dier of the CW’s Jane The Virgin.
I have watched this show since Season one through now, which is in its 3rd season, and the chemistry of Jane Villanueva and Michael Cordero was a match made in TV heaven. In spite of all the ups and downs you all had to endure throughout, due to Jane being wrongfully inseminated and then turning out pregnant in the first season, and being tied to the baby’s daddy Rafael, Michael and Jane’s love sparked something magical and beautiful.
There are many fans who loved Elena and Damon on the Vampire Diaries and Meredith Grey and Derek Shepard on Grey's Anatomy. However, my favorite couple has always been Jane Villanueva, the writer, and Michael Cordero, the cop with a heart of gold.
I think there are very few actors who can build that kind of connection on TV but both Gina as Jane and Brett as Michael were able to capture that love on the small screen.
Each week, I looked forward to what would happen between them and last season’s cliffhanger ending with Michael being shot by the criminal known as Sin Rostro (Without a face), which turned out to be Rose who was involved with Rafael’s sister.
Naturally, I gasped in those last moments not knowing whether Michael had survived after finally marrying Jane. I was angry at that moment that the writers chose to have them finally tie the knot and then, while they are on their honeymoon, and Michael goes to get ice for them to celebrate and finally be together, this happens.
But I chose to stay positive that Michael would be alive when the new season began. This is why when it premiered, and it turned out he would be okay, I cheered and I was overjoyed that Jane and Michael finally would have their happy ending.
However, this all ended last night. For those that watch the show, I am sorry for the spoiler. But last night’s episode was something I never expected. Just when I thought Michael and Jane would always be together, he dies in the final moments of the episode. It was so tragic because I did not see it coming. I know they said they had made assumptions but the way they chose to end it was so hard.
Gina Rodriguez, you made me cry upon you getting the tragic news of Michael’s death.
I think what got me the most was how the show gave you all such a wonderful night before and when he walked out the door I never expected for it to be the end.
I know this is just a show, but your characters were so loved, and I will forever miss seeing them together.
I just wanted to send this letter to let you both know that I am still a fan of the show. I wanted you to know how much I have appreciated the love that both Jane and Michael had.
Finally, as a fan, I can only say there will never be a couple like Michael or Jane, and I will forever miss seeing you both on screen, and I will always be on Team Michael.
Best Regards your fan,
Sylvia Stein
