Despite her hectic work schedule, raising three children, maintaining a household, keeping herself in shape, socializing her children, tying up the loose ends of a broken family, and doing all of these things as a single parent, I have never once heard Tami Brown ever complain. When life threw her every curveball one could imagine, she still woke up each morning swinging. With a smile on her face, she single-handedly completed tasks most only sign up for knowing that they will have a partner in life to help them with. When I was at my absolute worst, Tami not only loved and cared for me, but she motivated me to seek better for myself. Not many people ever get the opportunity of meeting their hero, but I am fortunate enough to call mine my mom.
In a few short words, my mom saved my life. She taught me how to use my inner strength and faith to face adversity head on. She taught me to continuously stand up after each fall, but she also taught me that there would be numerous falls. Life would never be the relaxed and straight path; rather life would take me down the bumpiest roads possible just to see if I could hang on. My mom, a woman with dignity, pursuit, and love, has taught me lessons no textbook or lecture ever could. She is a walking and breathing example of courage, mental toughness, and poise. Without this woman, I would not be the person I am today. Upon reflection, I am so much more than my parents' divorce, my GPA, or even the degree I am working towards. I am my mother’s daughter.
