Dreams are the stepping stones to creating your future.

To Have A Dream

“I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, and dragons. It all exists, even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?” -John Lennon

There is so much unknown about the world. So many things that can't be explained. Science is there to explain how and why things happen, but what about when it can't? Things happen, people defeat all odds with an illness and medecine simply can't explain why. Our world's natural beauty came from somewhere, but can't truly be explained where it came from. Science is great to explain how and why things happen but there has got to be more to this world than just science.

I am a dreamer. Some people tell me my heads always in the clouds and I think unrealistically. I believe in wishing on shooting stars, birthday candles and 11:11 wishes. I believe that there is good in everyone until they prove me wrong. I believe in fate taking over to help my dreams become a reality. I believe that magic exists within this world because some things just can’t be explained using science or logical explanations. Although I may believe in wishes and dreams and magic, I am not naive. I understand that not everything will always be filled with rainbows and flowers. I understand that sometimes my dream may turn out to be a nightmare. I understand that a magician can not magically pull a rabbit out of his hat. However, where is the fun of always thinking realistically? If everyone always thought inside the box all the time, where would that take us as a society? Would we have genres of books such as Science- fiction and fantasy? Would children get the joy of watching a card trick at a magic show? Would we even have the technology that we have today? Probably not.

In today's society there is a great emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math. From these fields we have created the impossible; skyscrapers built to touch the clouds, miracle working medical break throughs, computers that can talk to us and the list is on going. The professional's in the STEM fields are often times, unfairly, labeled as dull or unimaginative; but I think just the opposite. Behind every skyscraper, new medicine and talking computer is an eager engineer or scientist pushing the limits, thinking outside of what is known to create the unknown.

It is imperative as millennia's that we continue to dream the impossible and make it a reality. There is still so much more to do in this world and so much to improve on. There are new novels to be written and read, new technologies to be invented and new discoveries to be made. Success may not come easy or right away but with a dream in mind you are headed in the right direction.

To the future doctors: don't stop until you find a cure.

To the future authors: don't stop until you're work is taught in schools.

To the future politicians: don't stop until you become part of history.

To the future screen writers: don't stop until your film is on every big screen.

To the future: don't stop dreaming.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
