To The 20-Something Girl Who's Ready For Marriage Before Others, Be Patient — Your Time Will Come

We all have a timeline of when we would like to be married. What happens when you're ready, but other people aren't?

Every female has an idea of her dream wedding from a very young age.

What kind of dress she would want, what color dresses her bridesmaids will have, what the floral arrangements will look like, and what venue it'll be at. Over time, some of those ideas may change but she still has that dream wedding planned.

We grow up, we watch television shows and movies, we see family members and maybe some friends get married, and our dream wedding becomes clearer and clearer to us. We can perfectly envision it.

As time goes on, though, it also seems like that wedding gets further and further away from us.

But then, we meet a guy. We fall in love. We think "this is it." You either date for a long time or very briefly. Either way, we feel that dream wedding finally getting closer. So close, you can see it, hear it. But the day never comes.

It seems like no matter what, it won't ever happen. It will, eventually. When the time is right.

As a female, we have the dream wedding, yes, but we also have a timeline of when we want to get married, when we want to have our first child... things like that. And as time goes on and we approach those "deadlines," or even surpass them, we have to change our timeline, which we are reluctant to do.

My personal timeline was always to be married by 25 and have my first child by 30.

Currently, I don't see either of those happening, and I will have to change my timeline as time goes on, which sucks but that's life. I wish these things were simple, but males and females have different ideas of marriage or any future plans in the first place. Which makes things super complicated.

So besides changing timelines to fit what is going on in your life, what do we do when it seems like other people aren't ready when we are? We just have to wait it out. As much as that sucks and you don't want to, you have to. Talk about it. Figure things out.

Things happen for a reason, take life and live it. Compromise.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.
