From elementary school to high school, I've been told I'm worthless. I don't have the ability to focus in class, I can't do the work, and I'll never make it in college. Well, guess what guys. I'm in my junior year in college and I have a GPA within 3.0 in my Mass Communication degree program.
I'm also passing my other classes, the ones that have nothing to do with my degree. I'm succeeding, and I use this success to laugh in your faces. I even work at ESPN, which I bet you guys thought would never happen. Proving you wrong is what keeps pushing me to succeed, and I surely plan to keep this going.
My goal is to become one of the best, most well-known sports reporters there is, and with your doubt, I've got all the motivation in the world. My future is definitely a bright one.
Every once in a while, when things don't go well, I stress out. I think, "oh no... They were right. I'm a failure."
However, right when this thought pops up, so does another one.
"Wait! Don't think like this. If you let these small failures get to you, you let everyone who said you were nothing be right. You can't let that happen."
So I don't. I breathe, I look at what I need to do to correct my mistakes, and I keep succeeding. I hope you are surprised. I hope you are in awe of everything I can do. In some way I have to thank you because the doubt you had about me pushed me to my success.
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels like this. If you are the person who was doubted early in your life, don't let that get you down. You're awesome, and you CAN do it. Those people are just haters, and instead of letting them be right, use that doubt as fuel to your flame.
I plan to keep succeeding in my life, and I hope you do too. Be sure to keep pushing in whatever you want to be great at. Also, be sure to thank your haters for the fuel.
