Lately it seems like a lot of things have been going wrong in my life, and it's been getting me down. But luckily I have wonderful friends in my life who make it hard to wallow in sadness for very long, as well as words of reminder that things will get better. So to those of you who are also struggling with what life is throwing you, here are some quotes that will lift your spirits.

1. Sometimes when you're in a dark place, you think you've been buried. But you've actually been planted.

When we get in a dark place, it's hard to see the light. But often times, the best is yet to come and we just need to wait to see the sunlight.

2. Keep moving.

Often we get stuck in the same routine and life starts to feel monotonous, making us feel sad. We just need to keep moving forward with our life, doing things to better ourselves everyday. This will keep us happy and successful.

3. The happiest you've ever been isn't the happiest you'll ever be.

You have to trust this one. You never know when something great is right around the corner.

4. Believe.

Believe you are smart. Believe you are hard working. Believe you are worthy. You will become all of these things as long as you believe.

5. You're still moving forward even when you're taking baby steps.

Sometimes we feel stuck because there's not much we can do at the present moment to move forward with our goals. But we can't forget that we're still moving forward, even when we're taking baby steps.

6. Forget who you were and look forward to who you might be.

None of us have perfect pasts, but what really counts in life is what we do with our future to better ourselves.

7. Mistakes don't define us.

Everyone makes mistakes, but they don't define us. What we choose to learn from those mistakes is what defines us in the end.

8. There are people who haven't met you yet who will love you.

There are so many people that we come across in life. If you're feeling unloved now, there's someone just around the corner that will love you soon enough.

9. Successful people have fear, doubts and worries.

You're allowed to have moments in life when you're scared or doubtful or worried; everyone has those moments. Just don't let them stop you from doing great things.

10. Never settle.

Lastly, never settle. It may seem hard to wait for the perfect relationship, the perfect job, the perfect opportunity, but your patience will pay off in the end. Focus on how far you've come, rather than how long you have to wait.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
