To All The Sisters

A little sister time is good for the soul.

To All The Sisters

This is to all the sisters

"Side by side, or miles apart, sisters will always be connected at heart"

One of the first memories I have of my sister and I is when we were little we would always sneak into each other's room late at night and play the "name game" or "grocery store" for hours or watch movies on the little portable DVD player we had. We would always get so tickled at each other when mom or dad walked by.

If I could go back to one of those nights I would in a heart beat.

We had that middle school phase where I had my friends and you had your friends. Then high school hit. Most teachers thought we were twins because of how much we were together. We were inseparable.

Senior year I knew the day I moved out would come, but that's the last thing we talked about or even thought about.

I just want to thank my sister for all the laughs, cries, and memories we have had together.

So to my sister..

1. Thank you for the endless laughs.

I promise nothing is better than those laughs were you cannot even breathe and you're literally on the verge of peeing your pants (and sometimes you do).

2. Thank you for always telling me what I need to hear and not what I want to hear.

Your sister is always going to be honest with you because she really does not care if you get mad or not. You cannot promise that they'll fix the problem, but you can promise that they will not have to face it alone.

3. Thank you for always eating cereal with me.

It might be midnight or later, but it is never a bad time for cereal. (Some nights you won't have milk and so you'll wake your parents up at 1 a.m. and you all will take a family road trip because whose parents just lets them leave at that time of night?)

4. Thank you for taking my side 99 percent of the time.

I know we have our differences, but when it comes to a guy thanks for always taking my side and making me feel a little less crazy.

5. Thank you for always having my back.

If it ever came down to it, you would definitely be the first person I would call if I got in a fight.

6. Thank you for always wanting to stay and watch Netflix with me on a rainy day (so I don't feel as bad about myself).

Sad movie or action movie, we will probably have tears by the end of it anyways.

7. Thank you for the car jams.

Car jams can range from anywhere to Miley Cyrus, Dixie Chicks, Usher, or even Elvis. Doesn't matter because we will sing every song like it is nothing.

8. Thank you for the endless sleepovers.

I don't care if you are 8 or 18, sleepovers are a must. Late night talks, 2 a.m. giggles, 2 a.m. Netflix binge watching, it is good for you. I promise.

9. Thank you for being my best friend.

I honestly cannot express how much our relationship means to me. You are my person.

God truly blessed your life if he gave you a sister.

There's really nobody quite like her.

No words can describe the relationship my sister and I have. Going off to college just made me appreciate our relationship even more than I ever did.

So to the sisters.

Have fun together and hold onto the memories and enjoy the moment because one day you will miss going to school together every day, or walking across the hall to talk.

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
