You often get questions asked like, "Why don't you talk?" Or..."Why are you so nervous?"
A repeat and repeat of the same question over and over and over. Being home schooled and attending a small private school didn't exactly help my debilitating case of "shyness." First day of freshman year..new school, new people. If somebody said "hey" to me, I would literally look the other way. Like, don't talk to me, don't look at me and yes, I was that shy. What I didn't realize was that being the "quiet one" actually brought more attention to myself.
Of course I wanted to be that loud, outgoing, confident girl who didn't care about anything. I let my shyness ruin some opportunities for me and I also let people walk all over me. Don't get me wrong, sophomore year was 10 times better but, my point is, if people know you don't stand up for yourself, they're going to take advantage of you. Like I said, people will walk all over you. So, to all the shy girls who can't stand up for themselves, learn how to. Face your fears even if you feel uncomfortable.
Of course I'm still shy, but, looking back at myself, I have realized how much I have grown as a person. Sometimes you gotta do you before anyone else!
