To All the Missed Concerts in 2020...

For music lovers and concert enthusiasts like myself, the absence of live music has been one of the most difficult parts of having to practice social distancing. A lot of times, the highlight of the summer is outdoor concerts and music festivals, and this year, it's been hard to accept that that's been taken away from us.

Not to mention the fact that it seemed like 2019 was the year that old bands and artists decided to jump back into the music scene and begin putting out music again so they could get out on the road in 2020. Getting the cancellation or postponement notifications have been hard to swallow and there's an inexplicable sadness that comes with not knowing when we'll even be able to have concerts again.

So, first, to concert lovers everywhere – to border on a cliché, I want to say that we're in this together. Before we know it, we'll be back to meeting new friends in lines and cultivating friendships with people who share our love for an artist or band. It's so special the way our hearts can be brought together through lyrics and melodies and the individuals behind them.

Hopefully it's not long until we can be together again in an overcrowded mosh pit, screaming together at the top of our lungs the lyrics to our favorite songs – back in a place where, when the lights go down, we forget our differences, our problems, and our worries and we are one being united by a love for music.

In the meantime, don't forget that Zoom concerts exist. That sites like StageIt can provide a makeshift concert experience. And that artists are taking advantage of social platforms to go live with their fans.

It's not the same as being at a live show with all of you, but it's still a little taste of the world we love.

Lastly, and most importantly, to concerts – we can't wait until the day comes when dates and lineups are announced and concrete again. The rush when we purchase tickets and the wash of excitement we get before a concert is not to be forgotten, so neither should we when restrictions are lifted.

We know it's difficult to reschedule tours, and it may not be soon when it happens, but please don't forget about your fans when the day comes. We can't wait to see our favorite artists again after choosing the perfect outfit and feel the bass bump in our chests and lose our voices as we sing to our favorite songs and get lost in that concert rush again.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
