Nothing good ever comes out of hate.

To All The Kids Out There, I'm Sorry

To all the kids out there in the world, I'm sorry. I wanted to write you this letter to apologize for those who do not see the wrong in their ways. For those who do not feel remorse for the crimes they have committed. I'm sorry you're having to grow up with so much hate, hate that you do not understand. I don't even understand it.

I'm sorry that you're being taught to watch your back instead of watching your favorite movies. That you can't trust anyone, not even your parents. I'm sorry that you have to hide who you really are to avoid the "consequences." I'm sorry that you're not able to experience how wonderful it is to go outside and play in the streets without the fear of something terrible happening.

I know you're scared, that's what you were taught, and I wish that wasn't the case. There are far too many beautiful things in this world so don't run around with your tail between your legs. Yes, bad things happen, but wouldn't you rather live your life and enjoy what time you do have on this Earth rather than be living under a rock? I know I do. It's OK to take precautions and it's OK to be on your guard, but don't let that stop you.

I'm sorry that you're being taught that you're uniqueness is something to be ashamed of. I'm sorry if you feel like you can't be yourself. I hope that someone teaches you to love everyone despite your differences.

Growing up, I was taught that cops were the good guys, I still believe they are. I was taught that skin color doesn't matter and where you come from doesn't mean that it defines who you are as a person. I was taught to have respect for my elders and anyone in general. We all have enemies and people we dislike, but violence should never be the answer.

I'm sorry you're having to grow up faster than you should. You should be able to enjoy Saturday morning cartoons and going to the park. To build forts in the living room and to pretend the floor is made out of lava. To eat candy and not be afraid of the calories.

Grow up to be the person you want to be, not what society tells you. Grow up to be strong and independent but love your family. Appreciate the little things in life and don't take them for granted. Learn to love and accept even if you don't understand. Go after your dreams and believe in yourself. Finally, learn that nothing good ever comes out of hate.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

I don't know if it is related to my anxiety, perfectionism or depression. I don't know why it happens. It's frustrating, it's painful and it stops me from functioning.
