Tis the Season for Fall
Kaitlyn Moore

Fall is the best time of year. There are a million reasons why fall is the best season, so I will just list a few for you. For one, there is apple cider! And for all the pumpkin lovers that can drink pumpkin in 100 degree weather, there is pumpkin everything!

The leaves change colors, which makes the landscapes look like a painting. It makes you take a step back, and appreciate things you never fully notice in the summer.

Next comes, sweater weather! Where you get to break out all those sweaters that make you sweat just by looking at them in the summer. Hay rides and corn mazes are a fun fall activity. Even though I always get lost every single time I enter a corn maze. Picking out your pumpkin to carve, is the best. The smell of cinnamon is the air every place you go, which makes every place cozy and warm. Picking out a bundle of apples to make homemade apple pie or applesauce is always a great thing do on rainy days. And we know there are plenty of rain days during fall.

Between my friends and I, it is always a competition to see who can get the biggest pumpkin. Or, who can carry the heaviest one, without dropping it. So for me, thats about four pounds. Roasting the pumpkin after you carve, is such a tasty treat. When I was younger, I never use to eat them. Also, something you can only find around this time of the year is those cartel apple lollipops, which are a must have. Being older, they are one of my favorite things about the season. When carving pumpkins, my family makes it a serious activity. We picked the highest skill level of carving, and sit there for about two hours, focusing on our design.

Decorating for Halloween is one of my favorites, except for when the fake spider webs get caught in absolutely everything I am doing. But the fact that you can go any way with your decorations is fun. Drinking hot chocolate and making amores around bonfires is the highlight of the season. Getting so close to the bonfire, that if you go any closer you may melt, but it is too cold the farther away you get. With the arriving of fall means the best holidays are coming up. Halloween, being fun and festive and candy filled which is always a plus. Then comes Thanksgiving, which is personally, my favorite. In my family we have a tradition of staying in our pajamas all day, calling it PJ Thanksgiving. Which is the best decision anyone has made in my family.

Go out and enjoy fall, because before you blink, it gets too cold to even get out of bed. Before you have to put on 20 layers of clothes to brave the walk to class or out to get the mail.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
