'Tis The Season

Here is the reason for the season.

This is the season of joy and light, but this celebration did not just come out of nowhere.

Nowadays, so much of the world loses sight of what Christmas truly is about. Our gifts are a symbol of the gift of Christ coming to Earth and paying the price for our sins. We celebrate Christmas to praise The Lord.

Yes, Santa and presents are fun, but they are not why we have this holiday. This entire celebration on December 25th is to remember what Jesus did for us.

By humbling Himself and coming as a babe in a manger, He showed up in our lives as God in the flesh. It blows my mind to think that the God of all the universe decided to come down and be born to a woman who had to take care of Him.

My favorite part of this image is that when we picture God, we don't typically imagine a baby who is in great need of help from other people, yet He loved us enough to come down as a child.

That precious night when Jesus was born gave the world hope. Hope of a new start and a clean slate. Hope of forgiveness and love.

Imagine being there. Step back about 2,000 years into the city of Bethlehem where the virgin mother, Mary, sat in a stable with her new child. The Lord is wrapped in cloth in a lowly manger, and this was the beginning of the greatest love story ever told. The best part is that it involves you and me.

The Bible doesn't just stop there and say that all was happy and the end. No, Jesus goes further by not only coming down but becoming an intimate part of our lives. On the Earth, He healed people, fed people, loved people, and He showed them that He cared for them. He humbled Himself to the point that He would even touch the sick. He was even tempted, but He never gave in.

The glory of God doesn't stop with the manger, for it continues throughout His life and into eternity. Jesus lived a perfect life on Earth, which is something no one else could do, and He loved us enough to die the most painful death for us. He took on our sin and our shame so that we didn't have to carry this burden so heavily on our shoulders.

It is in our human nature to sin, and we cannot deny that fact, but we can be freed from the punishment.

Christmas is about the Gospel.

Jesus came down to be the giver of life and our everything. This season, let us not forget what it truly is all about. It's about life given to us freely at a tremendous cost.

It's a cost we could never repay, and it is critical for us to receive life, or else all we are would be fleeting. This is a time to worship the Giver of Life, Jesus

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
