We’re now officially in December, the end of the semester, and the end of the reigning sweetheart’s terms. Meaning, it is now campaigning time. All of the fraternities are nominating their girlfriends, littles, best friends and sisters, making the elections a huge ballot of 10+ girls. And one of those girls is bound to be your sister, best friend, and/or nemesis, meaning you’re competing for your favorite to beat her out for that title, just as much as they are. If not more.
What does this mean for us? Whether you’re nominated or a nominee supporter, you’re plugging #myfriendforsweetheart into every convo, tweet and insta. and slaving away making jello shots in their fraternity colors, t-shirts to wear EVERY DAY, and covering yourself in paint and mod podge making them crafts. Here’s how it goes:
You get a lovely email and ambush of texts from the brothers because YOU’RE NOMINATED!
And your big is ready to campaign.
And you now absolutely need to be at the house 24/7 and forbid your sisters from attending any other fraternity’s functions.
You bake. A lot. Which is hard.
And also leads to you needing to “work out,” because obviously you have to eat all of the cupcakes that don’t look just right.
Then comes the fateful day when you and all the other nominees visit the chapter. You stroll in with your sisters, looking fabulous as always.
Clearly stealing all of the attention because your posse is on point.
And all the other girls are staring at you, and you want to be like..
But you keep it classy.
Then that one girl walks in with literally here entire sorority as her posse and literally all of the rest of you are like...
Finally it’s your turn to go in. And you’re absolutely freaking out.
But really, you don’t need to be because it’s fraternity boys seeing a bunch of pretty girls… which they're into.
So you strut on in there...
And it goes perfectly. They love you, so of course you make it to the final rounds and wave to the losers.
Who meanwhile are like...
But really deep down, we’re all on the same side. Because solidarity sister, this Sweetheart stuff is hard.
And in the end, you win. And it’s all worth it because you now have 70+ men running at you calling you Sweetheart.
