I Am Tired Of The Xenophobia

This country used to be a beacon of hope for immigrants, religious radicals, and criminals.

I want to start this article by saying that what happened with the Egyptair flight was an absolute tragedy. My thoughts go out to all of the family members of those who lost loved ones in the fatal crash. Next, I want to say that Donald Trump's response to the crash was an absolute travesty. It just goes to show that he will go out of his way to exploit a situation in order to get coverage and as a result, votes.

At the time I write this article, no one knows exactly what happened with the flight. At one point it was cruising towards Egyptian airspace, and the next minute it was nose-diving into the Mediterranean Sea. There is so far no evidence as to what caused this to take place. No one has claimed responsibility. The authorities are investigating, and the families are just trying to mourn.

I'm not going to joke about this.

Just as the investigation and 24/7 media coverage have started to pick up, in swoops Donald Trump to ruin my day. See his tweet goes to show that he will stop at nothing in order to try to drum up the votes. What this does is add fuel to his xenophobic fire that helps to drive fear into the hearts of Americans. This only helps prove his point that all Muslims need to be banned from this country. He can even use this to say that only "true" Americans should be coming into this country.

Look, from what I know about Islam, it is a beautiful religion. Muslims are just like anyone. They are people. They deserve a chance to be as happy and prosperous as Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Pagans and even Satanists. That's right, I said Satanists. Your religion should not determine how you are treated in this country. This country was built on the foundation of religious freedom, with liberty and justice for all. The Statue of Liberty has a bronze plaque with the sonnet "The New Colossus". It was written to commemorate the statue as it stood as a beacon of hope for those who would enter this country. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." We are a nation of immigrants, not a nation of isolationists.

I will not stand for a country that will close its borders like North Korea.

If he closes his eyes he doesn't have to see that he comes from a family of immigrants, or happens to marry to one. #MakeDonaldDrumpfAgain

I'm a firm believer that America is supposed to be a place for anyone to live and thrive. The Declaration of Independence states that "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." I guess Donald Trump and the rest of conservative America don't want to take that into consideration.

Jefferson even stood for the rights of states, which is right up the alley of the Republicans. How many times have you heard in the news lately that Republicans are saying that certain issues need to be handled by the states? Unfortunately, the Republicans don't want to follow the words of the Declaration of Independence, instead, they want to follow the actions of Jefferson's time: whites having the power over blacks and only men can vote.

Trump is becoming Father Comstock from Bioshock: Infinite.

So Trump has basically secured the nomination. Now he is trying to pander to all of the conservatives in the country in order to try to win the election.

My point in all of this rambling is to say that this country used to be a symbol of freedom in the world. All Americans who are not part of the Native American tribes owe their existence here to immigrants, religious radicals, and criminals. In our short history we went from being a beacon of hope for those who were escaping persecution to fighting over who can use which bathroom, talking about building a wall on our border, banning people based upon faith, and telling women that they don't have the right to do what they want with their bodies.

Don't let this become the America that gets written in the history books. Think about what the candidates are saying.

Stay informed. Know the issues. Form your own opinion on the matter.

Don't let your church, family, friends, or anyone else tell you how to think. Make the decision for yourself.

Most importantly GO VOTE.

Don't think that your vote doesn't count. If all of you go out there an vote, it will make a difference. That's how you get things to change in this country, stop complaining and go do something about it. You are only allowed to complain about this country in my presence if you have actually voted. Now I know that there are conditions of not being able to vote because of racist laws or because of a criminal record, but if you refuse to vote, then you are contributing to the problems with this country and I have no time for you.

Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama.
