There’s so many nights where I stayed up willingly and woke up with tired eyes in the morning with not a regret in the world, but recently I have realized how much I love sleep and how much a genuinely value it. Not only do I just value sleep, but I’ve started to take really into consideration that when you have a busy schedule how hard it is to truly treat your body well.
I am a very tired girl with an extremely busy schedule. From managing a job, school, a sorority and trying to have good grades and maintain a social life there are things that I have taken far of advantage of. I recently wake up at 4:45 a.m. every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for work and then after having 2-3 hours of free time where I try to spend at the gym, I go straight to class until 8 p.m. and then manage to go to events to support my sorority, but though I am not complaining, I have no realized how important it is to take care of your body on top of doing all the other things we have to manage in our schedules.
Waking up so early in the day and not eating the right things or not getting enough sleep, really does take a toll on your day to day functioning. I have always been one to really live every day, but working so early and doing so many things, I’m living to just get those 4 hours of sleep in. Even though this is something that I have to do while going to school, it’s also very draining. Sometimes I do forget that even though I’m still “young”, my body is showing me otherwise.
The importance of taking care of your body while maintaining a busy schedule is imperative and I’ve unfortunately learned this the hard way, but I would much rather choose the nap then the gym, am I right? Some of the things I’ve learned to try to maintain my body to feel good is to meal prep, taking time to actually plan your days and to stay organized. Being organized is so important when it comes to having a busy schedule and maintaining a decently healthy lifestyle.
All in all, if you manage 100 things at once like I do, I’m sure you can relate to this where if you could take 30 personal days off you would, but we both know that just isn’t realistic. There are so many toxic things we put into our bodies that isn’t helping our tiredness in the morning. You really do have to pick and choose your battles because basically what you have to do is stop snoozing that alarm, wake up throw that face on and get to it, but remembering to try to get enough sleep and eat good whether you’re going to the gym or not, is so important and will help those long days feel shorter. When you put good things into your body, your body actually feels good.
