It is coming upon us faster then we would like... the ugly, the dreaded, finals week. If your finals week is anything like mine, it is the absolute worst time during the school year. Your up to your eyeballs in work and your motivation is at an all time low. It is a time filled with tears, no sleep, and spending hours fueled by coffee. To make this stressful time in your life a bit more bearable here are some tips below for how to master finals.

1. Start Early

The absolute best thing you can do is start your final preparation early. While this sounds annoying to start early, you will not regret it. Start putting together your guides and gathering everything together. It will save you a lot of tears and time and you wont be getting started at the last minute.

2. Attend the Review Sessions

If I have learned anything, review sessions are actually helpful, it is a time that you can access old tests and get a feel for the material. You can ask questions and really get yourself prepared to study.

3. Make a study schedule or a list

Lists make me feel productive, they allow you to feel super accomplished when you get to cross stuff off. (Honestly, one of the best feelings). Having a study schedule as well will help you prioritize and keep yourself on track!!

4. Do not forget study breaks

You need a little me time during studying!! Make sure to relax and unwind, maybe take a break, watch a show, or just sit and go through your phone!!

5. Get Sleep

Staying up all night is not going to help you. Your brain can not function and you won't be prepared, start early and don't cram. Make sure your getting sleep so you can be at your best!

6. Attend the stress relief events

7. Write things out

The absolute best way for me to study is by writing things out. While people love to type your brain actually processes more by writing and it helps you remember the information.

8. Utilize the white boards

Wherever you are studying, use the white boards, I love writing everything out and then being able to visualize it all. This works especially for writing essays, creating your whole outline, and then you having it all planned in front of you while writing. Whiteboards are also great to practice memorizing!

9. Review your tests or practice questions

I love test questions because it is actually applying the information and being able to practice. Most of the time the questions pay off because it is similar to what is on the exam.

10. Keep calm and don't stress to much!

You have a long summer ahead of you! Keep up the good work... this is the last step!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
