Tips to Win the Online Broadway Lottery
Playbill

There I was, in the front row, clutching my playbill, eyes widening in awe as I watched “The Phantom of the Opera”. Who did I have to thank for this amazing experience? The Online Broadway Lottery!

The Online Broadway Lottery is a great way to see shows for an affordable price. You simply go on the Broadway Direct website (or download the Broadway Lottery app) and enter for shows that you want to see by giving your name, email address, date of birth, zip code and whether you’re entering for 1 or 2 tickets. When the lottery closes, you'll be informed of whether or not you won. As someone who's won a few times, I'd like to give a few tips on how to win.

1. You're more likely to win tickets for older shows.

Yes, I know that you want to see Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen. The problem is that everyone wants to see new and popular shows like these, which make them extremely difficult lotteries to win. While you should definitely continue entering for them because you might luck out, you have a much better shot at winning for older shows like "The Phantom of the Opera" or "Cats".

2. Use social media!

For some shows, you can double or even triple your chances of winning the lottery, just by using your social media accounts!

When you're filling out the entry for the show, there may be a box that you can check off that shows your intent to post about the lottery on Facebook and/or Twitter. By doing so, you can double, or even triple your chances of winning!

3. Use the buddy system!

Do you have friends that are also theatre aficionados? If so, you should definitely team up with them, and make a promise to be the recipient of each other's second ticket, should one of you win.

4. Lottery hopping

All of the lotteries open and close at different times, which is something you can definitely use to your advantage. Let's say that it's 9:00 AM, and the lottery for Aladdin just closed. You found out that you lost, but there's no need to fear! The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory lottery opens at 10:00 AM and you can try your luck with that one! So long as you're not picky with shows, and can keep track of the lottery times (See here), this is an awesome way of getting tickets.

5. Be persistent!

I know how easy it is to feel like the lottery is a lost cause. Before I won for the first time, I was on the verge of giving up. However, my persistency came through for me, and so will yours. You just have to remember that you don't lose anything by trying, and that your victory will make up for all of those rejection emails.

With these tips, I’m sure that you'll be able to win the lottery and experience the magic of Broadway, without causing a major dent in your funds. Break a leg!

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
