This is an exhausting week, but here are some tips to get you through it.
1. Bring a mini fan or something and drink plenty of water.
Sorority recruitment taking place in the summer (particularly in the south) is always hot as blue blazes. Bring a fan and some cold water because you won't regret it. Drink the water that the members provide for you in the parties.
2. Dress your best, but stay true to yourself.
Obviously, don't show up in a prom dress or anything, but definitely dress your best for the occasion. Wear your favorite casual dress for the more casual days. On pref day, dare not to wear black (unless your program requires it). I wore a bright pink Lilly Pulitzer dress and still got into my top choice sorority.
3. Always be ready to talk and make a good conversation.
These girls want to talk to you. They've been talking to girls all day and each conversation has been a repeat of the last. Go into a party and surprise them. Tell them about something you're passionate about... unless it's something inappropriate... Show them who you are and ask them questions. They'll be happy that you took over the conversation and showed them a piece of your personality.
4. Don't change your attitude about any party that you walk into.
There's a sorority that's relatively new on campus and everyone seems to think less of them simply because they have only been a part of the recruitment process for a couple of years now. Those girls are some of the sweetest girls you will ever meet, and you should consider them to be just as highly thought of as any other sorority on campus. That being said, don't change your wedges into Birkenstocks before that party just because you think you're too good for them. News flash: you're not.
5. Trust the process
As much as you probably are tired of hearing this, it really is true. Trust that these sisters know what they're doing and if they drop you, trust that it is in YOUR best interest. These girls know what type of people are a good fit for their sisterhood and even though you may have a 4.0 and were the class president, doesn't mean that every sorority will be praising you on their knees and freely offering you a position in their group. Trust the process and you will end up in the place that you were meant to be in. I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else than the place I am now.
