It’s that time of year again, folks. The school year is coming to an end, but finals are beginning. As we’re all preparing for the summer, we’re also preparing for something a little more important— finals. With that in mind, we also need to be giving ourselves some extra TLC so we don’t put our bodies into overdrive.

To manage the stress that finals bring, there are few tips that can help you get yourself out of your head for a little bit.

1. Exercise

I know you may be thinking “I barely have time to study for my finals, how will I have time to exercise?” The key thing is taking breaks between studying, and in that time you can have a little gym sesh.

2. Meditation/Yoga

This is a good way to get yourself to breathe, and just think (or lack thereof) of all good things in the world. Less stressing, more stretching.

3. Self care

Face masks, mani/pedi’s, a massage, or maybe all of the above? Show your body some love, give yourself a little time to not think about your tests, and just relax.

4. Nap

I’m not saying to sleep your day away, and pull an all-nighter to study. I’m saying if you’ve been studying for 3 hours, and your brain is frazzled maybe you should give your brain a little 40-minute rest.

5. Eat your favorite food

Whether it’s a snack or a 5-course meal, go ahead and treat yourself. You deserve it.

6. Shopping

Don’t spend all of your money in one day or buy your favorite shirt in every color. I’m just saying maybe buying yourself something you’ve wanted for a while might make you feel a little better, and give you a break from studying.

7. Watch your favorite show/movie

Obviously, it’s not the time to binge watch a show, but if you’ve been studying for a good portion of your day taking a little time to watch something that makes you happy won’t kill you or your GPA.

8. Listen to music

The best part about listening to music to relieve stress is that you can listen to it, and study at the same time. Double whammy. Finals got nothing on you.

9. A night out

A night out with friends is a great stress reliever, and doing it the night of your finals is not a good idea. The week or weekend before is a good way to give yourself some fun time before grind time.

10. Read a book

Another double whammy, reading makes you smarter and you get a break from reading stuff that makes your brain hurt.

There’s only a little more cramming left before we can stop worrying about school, but it’s important to remember to not over do it. These are just a few things that help some people get their minds off of studying for a little bit, and I think we all need that. Just remember: only a little left to go, you’re smarter than you think, and you got this!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
