Let's have some fun.

5 Tips to make the summer count
Bob Smith

If you knew how I was spending my summer, you'd probably call me a hypocrite. Why should a full-time summer employee tell someone else how to enjoy their summer? Frankly, I kind of agree, but there were a lot more memorable summer vacations that were worth while. With that in mind, here are some tips.

1. Adventurous

Yes, I know it can be scorching hot in some areas, but summer is when a lot of fun events happen especially music festivals. Well, that's what my bucket list mostly comprises of. Summer is a great opportunity to travel and explore new places especially the ones that have cooler climates like Alaska. Traveling is one of the luxuries that not everyone can enjoy, so if you can, by all means do it. It can never hurt. Try something new for a change.

2. Opportunity

Many people like myself take the summer as a chance to get some valuable experience and some much-needed funds. Personally, I have no regrets about spending my last few summers on the job. Of course, opportunity comes at a price, and finding it is one of life's hardest challenges. Finding an opportunity that suits you both academically and personally is near impossible. Of course, you're going to have to sacrifice some fun times, but that doesn't mean they'll end. You're just making the future ones better.

3. Rest

Summer is a great chance just to rest. School has slowed down, so it's definitely worth it to salvage as much rest as possible before the work starts back up. You never know what could happen in this day and age. Summer is what everyone looks forward to, but life can get in the way of that. It's always wise to be ready for anything no matter what the circumstances. I know I sound pessimistic, but doing so can really keep us alive.

4. Learn

What separates the successful from the failures is what they do during your off time especially in the summertime. It's always a good idea to pursue your goals everyday. The best way to do so is to always try and learn. If you don't have a goal, here are some ideas. Read some books. Try a different sport. Pursue a new workout routine. The possibilities are endless. As a gorilla once said imagination is the essence of discovery.

5. Don't care

If you're thought of a perfect day is just lazing around doing nothing, then by all means do that if you can. Honestly, summer is supposed to be a time of rest and relaxation. Do whatever makes you happy or be on the path towards happiness and don't look back. Summer is about making memories and doing the things you truly enjoy. Like the beach? Go. A music festival? Why not. You won't have another summer for another nine months when school starts.

Summer is summer. The season many of us look forward to for good reason. With the season nearing its halfway point, there's no time to make this count. So get out there and show the world what you're made of.

Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
