The day is finally here. The day you've been preparing for months. You've read the books, taken the practice tests, and probably cried a little. But, regardless, the day is here. It's your LSAT!
While scary, this day also an important step towards beginning your career. It's true that this will probably be the hardest test so far in your life, but it is so important to stay calm and remember what you know. Use these tips to help your LSAT go smoother!
1. Remain calm!
It is so important to stay calm during the entirety of this exam. I know it seems impossible but take deep breaths, find your happy place, and stay focused.
2. Familiarize yourself with the test.
You need to know what you're getting yourself into. Learn the structure of the test, learn about the timing of the sections, when the breaks will be, and all of the logistics of the test. The more familiar you are with how the test goes, the better you'll do and more confident you will feel!
3. Warm up with a few practice questions.
Before you head over to take the test, warm up with a few practice questions to remind yourself of the steps on how to solve the different types of problems.
4. Eat a good breakfast/lunch!
Eat some "brain food" before you take your test -this might not be the day to eat a small salad for a meal, not the day to eat a triple bacon cheeseburger either. Eat something that will keep you full and give you energy to power through the test!
5. Use the bathroom before the test!
I know this one seems kind of stupid or elementary, but this is a long test and you don't have time to get up and use the bathroom in the middle of answering problems. Once you walk into the testing room, you won't have a break for around three hours or so. Make sure you use the bathroom before entering the testing room!
6. Pack that ziploc bag full of everything you might need!
Use that bag! Pack whatever you need to feel most confident in yourself. For me that was packing 10 pencils so I could always have a sharp one to write with. Bring pencils, tissues, water, medicine, whatever you might need! Don't forget to add some snacks- it's a long day!
7. Bring an eraser!
I wasted the most time on my test by trying to use the eraser on the end of my pencil to change a few of my answers. Just make things easier for yourself and bring a good eraser!
8. Review the guidelines of the test the night before.
They have several rules that are slightly different from other standardized tests. You have to have all of your belongings in a clear Ziploc bag, you can't bring your phone in the building, you have to have your ticket printed out, etc.
9. Be early!
The earlier you are, the better! You need to be at least 30 minutes early so you have time to use the bathroom, check in, get your seat, and get settled in. Also, if you're planning on being early and run behind, you will still be on time!
10. BE POSITIVE!
positive vibes = positive life
Remaining positive is one of the most important tips you could ever receive about the LSAT. You can do this! You have worked so hard and now it's time to show what you know!
