Tips For Getting The Perfect Gift For Each Person On Your List

Now that Thanksgiving has passed the world shifts their focus to the next rapidly approaching holiday, Christmas. What comes to mind when you think of Christmas? Well obviously love, fellowship, and family time, but besides that most would say gifts. One of my favorite activities during the holidays is to go gift shopping because I enjoy the process of picking out a gift that I know each person will appreciate. As a veteran gift shopper, I would like to share my thought process and some helpful tips that could help you find the perfect gift for each person on your holiday list.

What Kind Of A Relationship Do You Have With The Person?

Who are you trying to find a gift for on your list? Is it for your mother, brother, best friend, or even your boss? It is important to identify the type of relationship you have with the person who will be receiving the gift. If it is a family member you might want to go a bit more personal by putting a little more thought and detail into the gift. If it is someone a bit more casual, like a friend or co-worker, you could still put some thought into it by giving them a gift that would make them laugh or that they could use on a daily basis. You never want to go too serious or not serious enough so that is why it is important to identify the level of your relationship with each person.

Age And Trends Could Be a Helpful Tool In Finding a Gift

Now that you have identified the type of relationship you could narrow down your search in one of two ways. First is simply by knowing their age and the types of trends going around today. For example, if you are buying a gift for your Secret Santa or friend and they love electronics, you should consider checking out the latest gadgets available. Giving someone something new in the market could really catch their eye and amazement. Now lets say you are trying to buy your little sister a present, just by knowing their age, you are given the key to finding the perfect gift. My sister is eight years old and I was having trouble finding her a present for Christmas, but then I called my mother and she reminded me that eight year old girls love toys and stuffed animals. By remembering what an eight year old would enjoy, I was able to buy my sister a cute stuffed bear from Build A Bear Workshop, which I know she will love.

Watching Their Habits or What They Use On a Daily Basis Could Lead to Finding The Perfect Gift

The second way that could guide you to an amazing gift is by watching what that person does on a daily basis. For example, maybe the person on your list is always drinking coffee, so you might consider buying them a nice mug or some of their favorite type of coffee. Another example would be if that person always buys from one specific brand, if you notice that they wear Under Amour or Nike quiet frequently, then those could be clues to what they might like to get for Christmas.

Personality is key

Last, and probably the best way, is knowing the type of personality that person has. Despite all the tips I already discussed, many people do not always fall in any of those categories. If that is the case, I would recommend striking up a conversation with that person and just trying to get a grasp of what kind of person they are. For example, you are trying to buy a gift for your boss or co-worker and you want to get them something they will really enjoy. In that case I would start talking to them about what they like to do in their free time or what kind of hobbies they may be into. The more information you know about that person, the easier it will become to find the perfect gift.

And That's A Wrap! (Ha See What I Did There?)

So as the holidays approach us, please take the time and try some of these tips out and tell about it went. Most of all just have fun because it is the season of giving and joy. I wish you all good luck and please feel to comment below if you have any tips or what your experience as a gift giver has been in the past. Happy Holidays!

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
