Figuring out where and who you are living with can be very stressful. Here are a few tips to make the process easier and hopefully stress-free.

1. Make sure your future roomies are understanding, mature, and good at problem-solving.

You don't want to be caught in the middle of a huge argument or misunderstanding right in the middle of signing for a place. Everyone should be able to have a calm conversation to resolve any issues.

2. Make sure everyone is on the same page when it comes to price and location.

Before you find a beautiful place and start envisioning all the decorations that would make the place feel like home, make sure everyone is on board with the monthly rent and the location. You don't want to be caught off-guard when all of a sudden someone says they want to live closer to campus, or the rent is too high.

3. DO NOT GO WITH THE FIRST HOUSE YOU TOUR!

No matter how amazing it is there are hundreds of other places out there that might not break the bank and might be more suitable for all your roomies. Take some time and go on multiple tours to have some options to pick from.

4. Once you find the perfect place, put a deposit down ASAP.

Houses, apartments, and condos go fast. Especially in college towns when everyone is looking for places to live next year. Make sure everyone has the money for a deposit to avoid having the house stolen from right under your nose.

5. Have a backup plan.

There is nothing wrong with having a backup plan, either that is living alone or with someone else. It is important to look out for yourself, because you never know when someone might back-out or be flaky.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
