3 Essential Tips For Any Aspiring  Nursing Major

In This Article:

Deciding to be a Nursing major can be quite nerve-wracking considering it is a very competitive major. All that matters is that you keep your focus and follow through with the plan. Of course, there will be bumps along the way, but the only thing that matters is your perseverance through them.

1. It is important for you to stay motivated.

Being a nursing major is incredibly difficult. There will be nights where you may want to cry from being so stressed out. It is so easy to give in to the thoughts of doubt. I have been a victim of listening to my doubt at times, but I also pick myself back up. I know in my heart that I can do whatever it takes. Do not allow yourself to think you are not able to achieve your goals. College was never designed to be simplistic; it is meant to challenge you socially, mentally, spiritually, academically and more. Always remember that.

2. Always make sure you care for your mental health.

Being a college student for almost two years now, I have noticed how stressed school makes me. I am always studying stuck in my room and barely have time for myself or at least that what seems to be the case. If you want to become a nursing major, know that your time will be consumed with studying. Anyone pursuing a degree in nursing can tell you that, and because of this, you need to find a balance. It is okay to take a break from the work you have to do. Allow yourself to keep your sanity and know your work will get done. Do not stress yourself out to the point where your anxiety is through the roof: breath and relax.

3. Don't listen to any negativity from anyone.

There will be a lot of people that you are going to come in contact with who regularly talk down on how hard your major is. They will do nothing but bring you down. Although some people do have your best interest at heart, their so-called positivity can seem like the complete opposite. It is really up to you to maintain a positive attitude. Yes, all the tests, assignments, homework you will have to do gets a bit overwhelming, but I promise it will all be worth it in the end.

To the one wanting to pursue a carer in nursing, I wish you nothing but blessings and prosperity. Just keep your head up the journey is well worth the wait.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
