Sickness.

It happens to all of us.

It keeps us feeling down. It keeps us moping around. It keeps us in bed, surrounded by a box of tissues, various medicine bottles, and of course, Netflix T.V Shows and Movies.

Whilst it keeps us feeling like absolute garbage, at least for the first day or two, try to not let it get the best of you. In fact, use this time to treat yourself (because, after all, we can all use a self-care day!).

Here are my Five Tips For When You’re Feeling Sick.

Tip #1: Drink Tea & Water:

Perhaps this one is an obvious one. However, it is, nonetheless, an important one. After all, not only does staying hydrated cleanse your body of any bacteria, but it also helps prevent breakouts.

Tip #2: Take A Warm Bath:

Nothing screams relaxation like a nice, long, warm bath. However, if you want to make it even more relaxing, light up some candles and throw a bath-bomb into it! You’ll definitely have yourself a relaxing night ahead!

Tip #3: Sleep:

Let’s face it.. Perhaps one of the main reasons as to why individuals get sick is because they don’t get enough sleep, causing their immune system to weaken. Use this as an opportunity to get more sleep than you normally would. You deserve it.

Tip #4: Stop Stressing:

I’ll admit it. This one is probably the hardest not to do when you’re sick, especially if all the work that needs to be done simply gets piled on and on and on. However, stressing is perhaps one of the worst things one can do when they are sick, which is why you should avoid doing so in the first two days of feeling ill. Let your body relax. Sleep (Tip #3!!). One you feel rejuvenated, you can tackle all that needs to be taken care of!

Tip #5: Use A Face Mask:

Nothing screams self-care like a late night face mask. Whatever face mask you decide to use, it is sure to give you that extra bit of confidence that you did not know you needed whilst feeling ill. After all, confidence is key.

I hope that these small tips helped you, even if it only served as a reminder of what should be done during that dreading time period. Self-care is important. It is even more important when you’re feeling sick.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
