Tips & Tricks Of Keeping An Organized Agenda

Personally, I'm a very organized person. I have a need to write down everything and put it into a list. Whether it's today's to-do list, groceries, or shows I want to watch on Netflix, everything makes its way on a piece of paper, ESPECIALLY the things related to school.

My planner is my entire life, even more so now that I'm in college. It has times, dates, and everything I need to survive. It keeps me on track, organized, and my life moving at a steady pace. Classes are color coordinated, workouts are listed, and dance class times, hair appointments-- basically everything finds a home in the lines of my agenda. Now I realize some people just haven't acquired the skill of keeping a solid, organized planner. So, I'm taking it upon myself to show you the inside of my daily agenda to teach you how to stay organized and ready to take on the week.

My planner is a 2016-2017 from ban.do. Their styles are so cute, and their spread is weekly, so everyday has its own giant box to write things in. Here is what an average week looks like, as well as the tips and tricks I use to keep it organized:

All of my classes are color coordinated, and yes, their folders and notebooks match. It keeps everything separated in my mind so I know what exactly is for what class. Not only do classes have their signature color, but everything I do weekly does. My workout times are always in orange, everything theatre related is in teal, exams and important things are in red, and events are in pink. It really helps keep things separated and easy to look at. There's no point in keeping a planner if you can't easily read and use it.

Keeping times next to events is a must. It may seem obvious, but keeping times by everything really helps map out your day so you can see how everything lines up and when you have free time. Another thing that helps keep me sane is having a lot of space to write. Seeing everything crunched together in a small space makes me feel rushed and like there's a lot to do. But, seeing everything spread out in an open space, regardless of how busy I am, makes me feel like I have time and I can manage my time better.

Even if you're not an incredibly busy person, just keeping your classes and homework written down can make you feel more at ease and in control. If you're not one to carry an actual notebook around, try using the notes app in your phone, or the reminders app. It is proven that actually writing things down makes you memorize it more.

I would 10/10 recommend organizing your daily life, especially if you're in school. It's a great skill to have, and really helps as you get older and have more responsibilities. Once you simply have your week planned out, the stress will melt away and you'll really feel more in control. Happy planning!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
