Tinder? It has been the talk of the town for a while now, and most of us have been on it at least once. We can explain why it went viral by explaining the group conformity, social facilitation and social loafing from psychology books but this is not that type of an article. No matter what reason you tell your friends you are on Tinder for, we know the hope of finding “the one” lingers in the back of your mind. The good news is you are not alone.
Tinder has become more than just a hookup platform in the last year. Thanks to the founders who created the possibility, many couples are living happily ever after because of it. But, what happened to the ones who downloaded the app with good intentions, hopes and dreams, however, did not get the success that they were expecting?
We will look at five most common pictures men post on their Tinder profile. What women think of those pictures and what could be a better alternative for you to increase your chances of being swiped right.
1. “A Man with a Tiger” Picture
OK, why? Are you trying to prove your braveness? Are you trying to give a subliminal message about your sex life? Are you trying to show how wild you are? Do you own one?
The best case scenario, women say, “Ah! Another one laying next to a big sedated cat.” The worst case scenario, they will like the tiger more than they like you.
The alternative: If you are really into cats, holding a kitten picture has a better chance of catching attention. If you must be coupling up with a tiger, you running after it or it running after you will be more of a conversation topic.
2. “A Man Hugging Half Naked Girls” Picture
Is this how sorely single you are? Do you have a Harem? Are trying to show that you are a chick magnet? What do you expect women to think about this? “Wow he must be a cool guy, girls are chasing him, and I hope I have a chance with him?” No, on the contrary, women are drawn away from those pictures. This picture is something you should maybe show to your guy friends.
The best case scenario, they think that those are your close female friends and they are trying very hard to make you look desirable because they can not hear one more word from you about your loneliness. The worst case scenario, women think you are
The alternative: The picture of you having a conversation with those female friends hits the spot. It is more respectful and profound.
3. “A Man with a Sports Car” Picture
Fast and furious? Money, class, fame and adrenaline—is a driven lifestyle what you are hoping to convey? Having a midlife crisis? Most women are very skeptical about the car pictures. They don’t believe that you own that car. Moreover, they believe that you don’t even know the owner of that car.
Even if you have it, the best case scenario, women will like you for your vehicle. The worst case scenario, they will use you as an Uber driver.
The alternative: A picture of you riding a bicycle. Let her like you for who you are not for the materialistic reasons.
4. “A Man Taking a Half-Naked Selfie” Picture
Too much steroid? Do you live in the gym? Getting ready for body building competition? Interestingly enough, most women don’t find too much muscle attractive unless they have the same amount of six packs as you do, or if they are as big as you are.
The best case scenario, they will appreciate your hard work and your countless hours at the gym. The worst case scenario, they will think the best thing you can offer is your puffed-up body
The alternative: Wear a t-shirt. Women have good eyes for proportions.
5. “A Man With No Picture” picture
Single anonymous? Shy? Do you want people to like your personality over your look? Do you have too many co-workers on Tinder?
The best case scenario, women think you don’t trust your appearance. The worst case scenario, they believe that you are a stalker or have some other psychological problems.
The alternative: Upload your picture! Or try going on “blind” dates.
We live in a fast-paced world. We almost have no time to be social to find “the one.” That’s why more and more dating apps are popping up every day. On Tinder, women swipe approximately 50 pictures in a minute and most of them pointing left. Given that you have about a second to catch her attention, how you present yourself and what message you give matters. If you are on Tinder for something serious, sincerity is the way to go. Happy Tindering!
