The statement "timing is everything" is thrown around everyday, all around the world. It is used by people who are hurting and trying to make sense of certain events in their life. This statement seems so easy, but it actually describes the complexity of the movement of life and how it affects all of us. Whether we admit or not, timing has kicked us all in the ass one way or another. Maybe when you see the word "timing," you think of a person, or maybe you just think of a place. Either way, you think about something that could've been yours forever if only the timing was right. This is why timing is everything.
We are constantly changing. Everyday we come across things that influence us to change how we think and act. This change leads us to make decisions and go down new paths in life. When these new paths come our way, we my have to look around and see the things we are leaving behind. This is where timing comes into play. A person or place may be right for you during a certain point in time, but that can change. It is an unfortunate yet inevitable fact: people and things change. It is because of this that your timing will determine if a thing or person will stay around in your life.
One of my professors told a story one class that exhibited how timing can determine the course of life. He spoke to all of us about a girl he met when he was a young Marine. You could tell she was something special by the way he spoke about her. He told us that she was an outstanding girl, and maybe she could've been the one if he would've met her later on. Their story came to an end when he broke up with her because she loved him more than he was prepared for. He admitted to my class that he was an immature man who was not ready for such a commitment. He brought things to an end with him stating that things could've been extremely different, but that would mean he wouldn't be with his current wife. Wrong timing hurts, but it has purpose.
Timing is a pain, but it allows for everything to fall into place the way it's supposed to be. It is true that if you were to meet a person later on in your life, they may have been in your life longer, but we can't control things like that. We have to learn to embrace the fact that everything happens for a reason. Certain people and things come into our lives to serve a purpose. This purpose could've been to teach a lesson or just to give us some appreciable memories to look back on. Either way, we shouldn't curse at timing for doing us wrong. Instead we should accept it and know that everything works out the way it's meant to be. Timing may determine a lot of things, but it doesn't decide how we react to it. So next time bad timing kicks you down and makes things difficult, just know keeping a positive mind will lead to an extraordinary outcome.
