Since it's release in October 2015, the kitty collector mobile game, "Neko Atsume," has taken over our phone space and our hearts. From cute little kittens and their "x" butts, passive gameplay, to how many times I find myself saying "same" after seeing a kitty do something silly. I find myself checking up on my little kitties at least 20 times a day, making sure their food bowls are filled, seeing them play with their toys, watching out for the special and "punny" rare kitties, and giving the only the grandest and stupidest of names. I'm clearly using my time wisely, being the busy college student I am, but I wouldn't spend it any other way. Basically, "Neko Atsume" has become the perfect descriptor of my life, and in more ways than one surprisingly enough.
1. Especially when I don't want to get up in the morning.
Do I have to go to my classes? Can't I just sleep and eat all day?
2. After I've had a eventful Thursday night.
And those awkward photos you're tagged in the next morning. I'd rather not remember.
3. After my friend leaves and I have nothing to do.
I thought we were buddies, pals, amigos. I shared my food with you!
4. When I talk to someone new.
Does no one else understand that cats are love, cats are life?
5. When I think about my goals after college.
Especially with that debt...I need more gold fish...and more ambition.
6. When my smokey eyes are on point.
Finally got my cat eyes looking just right!
7. Thinking back on the political atmosphere we live in currently.
Anyone else #FeelingtheFur?
8. How I feel when I get a song stuck in my head.
I guess it could be worse, it could be that Adele song again.
9. Remembering my emo kid middle school years.
Save me from the cat lady I've become.
10. Waiting for my paycheck to deposit.
I just want to get more food, video games, pillows, art supplies and more food please!
But in the end of the day, the thing I look forward to is sitting down and eating a nice meal.
That is, if someone doesn't eat it first. Oh, Tubbs.
Whether it is doing my makeup, listening to music, sleeping or even eating, "Neko Atsume" is one of the cutest games I've ever played. The passivity of it leaves you with no consequences and thus no hard feelings if you don't check in for awhile (unlike like some previous games looking at you Nintendogs). While similar "collector" games have now been produced since the release of "Neko Atsume," I can safely say that I am more than satisfied with my little kittens, their cute "x" butts, and the knowledge that they love me too.
But seriously what do momentos do?
