14 Times George O'Malley Made My Heart Melt

He might not have been McDreamy or McSteamy, he might not've been a surgeon like Burke or Owen, he might not have been like Alex or Denny, but George O'Malley was one in a million.

So I just recently started watching "Grey's Anatomy" a few months ago and over the months, I've grown very fond of a lot of the characters. George O'Malley, however, ended up being my favorite, even when he did some bad things, even when he was a jerk, and even when he died and decided to leave the show. So, in honor of his death — which is the episode I've just completed watching today — here are the top eleven out of many moments when George O'Malley made my heart melt. 1. When he helped a woman, a woman who was his boss, who’s considered the ‘Nazi’, give birth.

This was the moment I knew George was going to set out to do great things. The fact that he was dubbed '007' in the first season or that he had a baby face may have stopped others from seeing that, and the big surgery he conducted in the elevator might've been his big moment, but this scene right here was what made my heart melt for George O'Malley for the first time.

2. When he put up with all of Meredith and Izzie’s drama.

Though George was often treated sisterly by both Meredith and Izzie and he hated being so, he always came through for them when they needed him and that shows a lot. George O'Malley, you are the perfect man.

3. When he swallowed his pride and anger and spoke only good things about Meredith, not because he had to, but because he wanted to.

It takes a lot for a person to say a bunch of goods things about someone when they're unhappy with them. In general, it's easy to say bad things about someone behind their back and Geogre could've easily told Meredith's dad just how terrible Meredith could sometimes be — hell, he knew from experience himself — but he didn't. He had no idea she was even listening and still, he found the kindness in his heart to say all that.

4. When he put ‘family’ first and came to Izzie’s rescue, despite the consequences.

As much as I felt for Callie here, George was right to go to Izzie when she needed a friend. That didn't mean that he loved Callie any less, it just meant he had priorities towards his closest friends — his family.

5. When he tried to fill in the role of Cristina when her and Meredith were fighting and he said this:

George is amazing. I mean, what else can you really say besides that? This scene had me laughing out loud. The point is, though George was only joking around, he genuinely cares for people and he likes to help, plus he knows just how to help.

6. When he faced off the Chief of Surgery and WON.

Not a lot of people can go up against the Chief of Surgery. Though a lot of the interns and residents have gone behind his back, besides Bailey, George was the only one who was able to confront the chief and win against him.

7. When he told Izzie that it was OKAY if she didn’t shave her legs before they had “hot, perfect sex.”

How many guys can actually say that and mean it? How many guys would actually let a girl off the hook for being too tired to have sex? None that I know of. George O'Malley, you are a gem.

8. When he swooped in and saved Tuck from having to be caught in a fight between his parents.

There were a lot of things George did, not because he had to, but because he wanted to. He didn't help out the Chief or take care of Bailey's kid to score extra points with them, he did it with a genuine heart. That kid might've been too young to fully understand who his 'Uncle George' was, but that scene will always have a lasting impact on me.

9. When he stood up to the chief a SECOND time and won AGAIN.

Doing that once and succeeding was crazy enough, but when George pulled through with it a second time, you knew he deserved some kind of award.

10. When he got Izzie, Meredith & Cristina out of the dermatologist’s heavenly place and out back into the surgical floor.

The dermatology floor was able to make Cristina, Meredith and Izzie all tired of being surgeons, fighting over bodies, constantly worrying about their patients' lives and having to deal with their own issues, but not George, nope. George wasn't floored by all the magical things the dermatology wing had to offer. He was not only immune to it all, but he managed to get ALL three of his friends out of the funk and back to saving people's lives.

11. When he convinced a stubborn and scared little kid to have surgery.

A guy who's good with kids can always make my heart melt, but to be able to convince a little boy to have surgery and to understand his fear when his own parents couldn't, is just amazing.

12. When he gave the sweetest pep talk to Izzie regarding her decision about whether or not she wanted to have surgery.

George was always the one who could give great pep talks, who could convince anyone to do anything, be it little kids, his hard-headed friends, his bosses, his parents. He always had such a way with words and he gave the best advice, even if sometimes he couldn't follow it himself.

13. When he helped Izzie down the aisle when she was getting married to Alex.

I really thought George and Izzie were great together and even though they didn't end up together, despite going through so much together, this scene right here shows that they'll always have a special bond.

14. When he put his life on the line to save a stranger.

You will always, always, always be loved and remembered, George O'Malley.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
