Dak Prescott, a young boy from a small town in Louisiana, to Mississippi State University, to the NFL is becoming one of the best rookie quarterbacks of all time. There has been a lot of talk of who should win the rookie of the year award for the 2016-2107 NFL season, and it has come down to maybe Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot. It was announced earlier this week that indeed Dak Prescott was up for the award. With that being said, and I may be biased since I am a student at Mississippi State, there is no doubt who should win this award. Whether you are a Mississippi State fan or not, Dak Prescott is someone to be a fan of on and off the field.

1. Dak was a 4th round draft pick, that has lead the Cowboys to a 13-3 record.

Dak has said multiple times that he has been a Cowboys fan all his life, so when the Cowboys drafted him, he had no hesitation. Dak has now lead the Cowboys to a 13-3 record on the season thus far. It has been stated by multiple sources that the Cowboys got the "diamond in the rough," but I don't think anyone is complaining.

2. He can't stop breaking records.

Currently, Dak is tied with Ben Roethlisburger for the most regular season wins by any rookie quarterback in the NFL. Needing only one more to break such a prestige record, the playoff game on Sunday could seal the deal. He also has the best completion percentage by any rookie quarterback in the NFL. As far as records go by the Cowboys, Dak has broken Troy Aikman's record for the most touchdown passes by a rookie.

3. He has given back to the community

Over the Christmas holidays, Dak took it upon himself to spend his time and money at a local Target for the Salvation Army Tree program. Dak has also made himself a regular at the children's hospital, visiting sick patients and making their day a little brighter. Dak has even been serving meals to the needy over the holidays for those who don't have family to celebrate with. Dak also went viral on social media during one of the games when he was sitting on the bench drinking water he tossed his cup towards the trash can and missed. What came next was what made this video viral - instead of leaving the cup on the ground, Dak noticed that he did not make into the trash can and proceeded to pick up the cup and then put it in the trash. It may not seem like that big of a deal, but in reality, how many professional athletes would've done the same?

4. He has pushed himself so far, and he won't stop now.

The pressure on a rookie leading an NFL team right out of the gate could be enough to scare anyone. But not Dak Prescott - no amount of pressure could phase him and cause him to become distracted and out of the zone. Dak wants to win; he wants to play every game for his mother, and he wants to play for his teammates. He has even said, "I want to win multiple Super Bowls in this league." This is the type of determination that has gotten him this far already. Everyone knows now that there is no going back for this young rookie, and that he has talent and the dedication that won't stop anytime soon.

Be sure to tune into the 2nd round of playoff as Dak Prescott tries to make history as the first rookie quarterback to win 14 games on Sunday. I promise this young rookie is about to do huge things in the future.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
