Anyone who has ever binge-watched Friends on Netflix will agree that Monica and Chandler's love story is more than swoon-worthy. Because we live in a society that is widely adoptive of social media, there are certain trends that seemingly every young, hip person is familiar with. Born out of the Twitterverse and Tumblr World, comes phrases such as "af" and "salty" and "you good fam?" One of the most famous trends has to be "Relationship Goals." Basically, it's a term used to describe any relationship that you would like to one day achieve. Most people who have seen "Friends" would deem Monica and Chandler (or "Mondler") as "Relationship Goals."
And how could they not? Their story is nothing short of adorable. I mean, I can think of six reasons off of the top of my head why their relationship is goal-worthy.
1) They had a pretty non-romantic start.
"Fat Monica" is definitely one of Friends' strongest tropes. And who could forget Chandler being the lead singer in him and Ross's "band" - featuring hits such as "Emotional Knapsack." Clearly, these two had some growing to do before they could find each other.
2) The "When We're 40" Clause.
In season one, Chandler makes an iconic proposition that if the two of them are still single when they're 40, then they'll get married - thus opening the door to the possibility of a connection.
3) The "Friends-to-Lovers" Storyline.
In the midst of the disastrous mess that was Ross's second wedding, and vulnerable Monica throws herself at Chandler. What could've been a one-time fling turns into a lifetime commitment. It helps that the two of them were close friends for years leading up to that day - he seemed to be the only person there who knew the right thing to say to make her feel better.
4) Their respective personalities.
Take a character as awkward and hilarious as Chandler Bing, and pair him with a maintenance perfectionist like Monica Geller - you can't help but love the outcome.
5) Their secret relationship.
Chandler and Monica secretly being together was one of the best storylines the show ever had. So many hilarious tropes were born from it - especially Joey having to keep the secret as well.
6) The unconditional nature of their love.
From their humble beginnings, Chandler and Monica have grown to resonate a "forever and always" vibe, wherein which they support and love one another unconditionally, no matter what. Who wouldn't want that?
There are many more reasons to hope for a relationship like Chandler and Monica's - and even more reasons to binge watch Friends on Netflix. Being lazy and watching quality TV are what semester breaks are for!
