Time Waits For No One

If Time was our friend, there would be an unlimited supply of him.

If Time was our friend, there would be an unlimited supply of him. He is that friend that we sometimes want to make a quick visit and other times we want him to stay for a long while. He is the slow agonizing pain during a long shift yet he can make us feel rushed during blissful moments with good friends or family. Unfortunately, we can’t have it either way because he ticks to his own beat. Time at times is our worst enemy.

As I get older, the more I realize how precious Time actually is. As my years ticked away I did not realize Time was, in fact, never really on my side. He has made my memories blur together. Recalling them has become increasingly more difficult day by day. My most cherished memories are rediscovered in conversations with the people that matter the most.

Appreciate all of your special moments with loved ones because you never know when Time will stop ticking for those. As we know, Time waits for no one. It seems as though this realization comes too late or somehow slips to the back of one’s mind before realizing it once again. Time reminds us how short life really is. We take our days for granted because we think the next is a given. Time will wait to slap you in the face as a friendly reminder that the next day is a privilege not a right.

Time is also our teacher. He teaches us to value important things in life. To not take friends and family for granted. To be kind to one another. But he also tells us that he is not everything. There is no such thing as perfect timing. Time is the illusion of truth and truth has many ways of being interpreted.

Believing that others have already thought about how harsh Time truly is, it is extremely difficult not to be sucked back into him. He does the familiar dance around our life and grabs hold of our hand just to drag us back in for just one more. Do not take Time for granted, cherish every moment. Go for something that you might have waited for because the “perfect” timing might never come.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
