For many people here in the great state of Texas we have all finished our first week of school and are slowly getting back into a routine. For many a routine can be getting up way to early for my linking to accomplish tasks and get your day started. Or you could be like me where your routine looks a whole lot more like organized chaos then a symphony of rhythm and accomplishment.
The other day I was riding one of the buses around campus to get me from the literal boondocks to my classes when it hit me. This bus is so much more than a bus right now it's a metaphor. This bus waited for no man, kept a schedule, and insured we were going to make it to our stops on time. That's when I realized we as people are always rushing to do something, go somewhere, and be someone. Just like the bus do we ever stop to consider the what if. What if I took time for myself, what if I didn't always fill a need to be right, what if I could just let life happen and not have to control every situation.
My answer in short is no. No, personally I never take time to consider other options, or take the time to just enjoy the ride. The bus literally drove all around the campus I fell in love with. The campus makes the experience here as a Red Raider. But what was I doing instead of taking in the views? answering emails, responding to texts, catching up on social media. Not once did I let myself slow down to take in the experience.
So many of life's greatest moments are the little things we allow to happen to us. Knowing that the world won't fall apart if you choose to sip your coffee slowly to enjoy the sunrise, or taking the extra 15 min to go out of your way to make someones day. these are the little moments the generate the big moments.
Take it from someone who wishes that they would take more time to appreciate the little things in life. Life moves fast but you ultimately control the speed in which you let it happen.
