There is a huge difference between procrastinating and taking a break.
Procrastinating is done by every college kid on a daily basis when a break is not needed. Unfortunately, it is typically not productive; productive procrastination includes things such as cleaning, washing clothes, and making the bed. Do you ever remember what you do when you procrastinate? I usually don't until I reflect on the past several hours I just wasted.
1. Watch Netflix
Everybody enjoys Netflix. I can't count the number of times I got lost on it watching "Friends," until I realized I had something due that night. Fortunately for me, I finished this series, and I am watching a non-binge-worthy show.
2. Snapchat the #squad
Personally, Snapchat helps me to feel closer to the friends I don't get to see in person very often. This luxury of Snapchat is honestly the one thing keeping me on there.
3. Drink coffee
I take unnecessary coffee/tea/hot chocolate breaks so that I can put off doing things. It is so much better than actually sitting down and finishing my work.
4. Watch videos on YouTube
I like listening to music on YouTube because most of my favorite songs are not on my iTunes account. It offers a great way to discover additional cool music. The only downside to watching YouTube videos is that I always somehow end up on the weird side of YouTube, like tutorials on, in this case, how to properly eat bananas. How do people come up with this stuff?
5. Sleep
Sleep is a good thing, but sometimes we can take advantage of it in that we use it as a means of procrastination because we unquestionably don't want to finish our assignments that are due in an hour.
6. Stress about how much work needs to be accomplished
If you weren't worried about the workload that is waiting for you, then you are now because I just brought it up. You're welcome!
7. Scroll through social media
In fact, you were probably on social media when you clicked some link to some Odyssey article. You are now thinking about how you could have had all of your work finished three hours ago, but no, you're still sitting in front of your computer procrastinating by reading this article all because of social media.
Enough procrastinating. Please get back to work.
