Time to Make a Move

Stop stopping yourself from bettering yourself

Sometimes we find ourselves stuck in situations in which we question why we’re still there. We’re not happy, we wonder when it will change, or if it even will. Maybe the same dead end boring, job that you question every morning when your alarm goes off. Maybe when you spend time with someone that used to make your heart flutter, and maybe always seeing the same trees and houses and people when you go anywhere. Our friends aren't as good as what they used to be. They belittle something you do and have ended up just not being friends. If you are questioning anything you are doing or just dreading the time spent doing such, leave. Just go.

Leave the job that is draining your happy and energy. Finding something that may be something you’ve always had a slight interest in, or try something completely new. Don’t be afraid of falling, because that’s a part of learning. We all stumble when tackling something new that our bodies aren’t used to doing, and it’s normal to be afraid. Just know the difference between real fear and the fear of doing something new. The adrenaline of walking into a new job and meeting new people. Waking up ready to go to work and deal with whatever it is that you’ll have to do that way. Whether you want a change in people, work, or money, I am begging you to just do it.

If you are no longer happy to spend time with someone that used to make you smile over the simplest things, then analyze the issue. If you’re not happy, you’re just not. And it may not be anyone’s fault. We can get bored and that means that maybe they aren’t the i person you thought you wanted or needed. You have no obligation to stay where you don’t want to be, whether that be a place or a person. They may not understand your reasons or think that you’re confused, but leave. Take the time to just be yourself by yourself. You’ll probably end up happier than you were lying next to someone and wondering what happened.

If the view out your window isn’t what you want to see, change it. Look at tickets to some of the places you’ve always wanted to visit or move to. Look at job openings and set up interviews. Look at housing options and how much money you’ve got or need to pick up and leave. Buy a school bus and transform it into a rv. Travel the world or states. Breath all the different air and see all the different trees. I promise you that the pine trees in Pennsylvania are different from the pine trees in Alaska., no matter what someone might tell you. Spread your wings, I’ll be cheering you on the whole way.

We need to realize that life is too short to stay where you’re not happy. And sometimes you can’t chase what you think will bring you happiness. Just go, and maybe you’ll find it on the way. We’ve all got to pull our pants up and go do the things we’re afraid to or people tell us not to. Find a job that you love and want to do every day instead of one that makes you miserable and you stay at because it pays the bills. Love yourself first, then worry about loving someone else. Listen to your head and heart because I guarantee that you’ll find a middle ground. Take a chance and some time for yourself and buy the plane ticket. Run away for a couple days, a week, or make running away your dream and live it. There will always be people telling you that your silly and you can’t live in a dream world. Guess who those people are? They’re the ones that people don’t know. People aren’t talking about the awesome, daring things that they’re doing, because they’re not. Just like they you not to do it, they told themselves the same thing. We’ve all got dreams and we may as well try and live them before it’s too late.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
