Corruption. It’s everywhere you look whether large scale or small. It’s in our towns, our jobs, our schools, the media, our government. Yet, we constantly turn a blind eye to it because if we don’t see it… it doesn’t exist. We’ve seen it countless times on television and movies. People rise to power, paving their way with money, blackmail and threats. Typically, in these types of movies and television shows, the system becomes so corrupt it begins to crumble from within and that’s when a vigilante comes in to cut the final threads holding it together and begin rebuilding.
That’s where America is right now. We need Batman.
Villains don’t wear crazy costumes like The Joker or The Riddler. They dress like you and I. We need to stop turning a blind eye to situations we recognize as wrong and come together. You can be a vigilante. I’m not saying dress up, pack your utility belt and try to bring down the mafia on your own terms. Be a vigilante by being kind to each other. This election has brought out so much hate, racism, sexism, he said she said name calling. Be the vigilante that holds the door for someone. Pay the $3 for the person behind you at the toll booth.
Corruption isn’t going to stop overnight. But you can defeat the darkness by being a little flicker glimpse of hope. People will always remember how you make them feel. Something so small, can change the outlook on someone’s day.
And remember, “a house divided against itself cannot stand.” We must stand together. Support each other. You can’t build walls around love and happiness.
