Playtime is over. It’s time to get serious and focus on your goals. Summer time is here and to most people that means a lot of relaxation, tanning outside, going to the wave pool, vacations with your friends and family and late night adventures with great people. A year ago my summer consisted of working many hours doing different jobs, working out two times a day, going on vacation with my family, and making memories with my friends. All of that is still very important to me, but like I said it’s time to get serious.
Anyways, back to my point its time to buckle down and quit fooling around. Every move and decision you make creates your future everyday. Your destiny is now in your hands, no one else has control over your life. If you fail that is on you, no one else. When you succeed, treat yourself do whatever makes you happy because people won’t always be there to clap for you when you get an A on an exam or get a promotion. Do everything for yourself but also to make your loved ones proud of you. They may not say it as much as you’d like to hear it but they are very proud of you for every accomplishment you have achieved. However, just because they do not say it enough does not mean you should stop working hard in life. You are not here to please others you are here to make a life for yourself and hopefully make a positive change for this world.
This coming week starts summer classes for me. I am taking chemistry and lab two times a week. I am not thrilled that I will be taking classes in the summer, this past semester at CCAC was rough enough, but I have come to the realization that school will never be over. I will continuously be taking different courses, learning new material, and reading books no matter where I go. I should not ever want to stop learning. Granted, for me it is a long and exhausting process to open the book and do some reading but I realize that this is what I am going to have to do to get ahead in life. If I want to make a life for myself then I have to get up and do something about it. I need to stop complaining, like everyone else in the world, over the littlest things. I plan to take a step back and before I choose to complain, I will think of all of what I am blessed to have. I am fortunate enough to have a roof over my head, two working legs and friends and family who would do anything for me. I have no reason to complain and I realize that I need to be more appreciative of what I have. I am sure I am not the only one who has their selfish moments.
We need to start making moves guys! Do something for yourself everyday but do more for others who need some light brought into their lives. Work hard for everything you do. Are you taking a tough class like I will be this summer? Great we are going to learn so much and will have to study twice as hard to pass the class. We cannot take the easy way out; it will not benefit us in any way. God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers. If God did not think we could handle it then he would not put us through it. We cannot keep questioning Him. We need to think of how. How can we overcome this obstacle in our lives? In the end, maybe not right away, but we will be thanking God for challenging us because we will come out stronger than we were before.
I myself thank God every day for challenging me. I have learned so many valuable lessons. I've become a stronger person, not just physically but mentally and emotionally. Overall, I’m not saying to stop having fun and get serious. Working hard and achieving your goals is fun, at least to me. What I am saying is look at your life right now and ask yourself…is this where you want to be? If it is then great, keep up with what you are doing but if it is not then do something about it. Time flies, whether you are wasting it or not. So do not settle for mediocre and work towards achieving greatness.
