This post is so special! I’m so excited to be writing about this. I have been given the unique and amazing opportunity to take a trip to the legislation building of New York. You might be wondering why anyone who wasn’t a political science major, law major, or Twitter Politician or Facebook Senator would be interested in that, but the truth is I LOVE learning and get excited about these kinds of things. I think it’s so important to learn and experience as many things as you can in life.
There is however a purpose to this trip besides education, my School and I are going to Albany to fight for TAP for the APC (The Association of Proprietary Colleges) a.k.a. Private schools. The issue here is that the new Administration of the White House and its constituents are looking to cut funding and financial aid for Private schools. I attend Five Towns College which is a Proprietary institution, and I personally would be likely unable to attend without the help of TAP and other Financial Aid services that the great state of New York is currently providing for us.
I hope to learn about the funding process and what schools are selected and which ones are underfunded and what I can do to fight for them and other schools as well. Being as I have not yet gone, this article is short, however when I return from my trip I will have a more in depth article to come with details about my trip and the experience! Stay tuned and get involved!
