Healthcare is not one of the most interesting topics for millennials but it is an important one. In the past year, the United States healthcare system has gone through a lot. The Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare was signed by former President Barack Obama in 2010. Since it became law, Republicans have been trying to repeal it. Attempt after attempt, they have not been successful but that all changed in November of this past year when Republican Donald Trump became president.
I understand healthcare is not something most of us have had to deal with. It has always been our parent's job to have insurance so we could have one too but as we get older, we eventually have to get our own. So, the time to start caring is now (I can argue that we should have started to care a long time ago but right now is ok), The healthcare system needs work. Late last night on July 27th, the Senate voted 49-51 in favor of not repealing Obamacare. This saved thousands from not having health insurance but I guarantee you this healthcare fight is not ending anytime soon.
This is the time to protest, call your Senators, and stay educated on what is happening in Washington. What public officials decide there make an impact on every citizen, including you. Stay alert because with this President, we do not know what could happen next.
