Tick tock.
60 seconds.
60 minutes.
24 hours.
365 days.
We are often so caught up with deadlines and long-term goals that we only focus on the brevity of time.
However, time simply separates the past, present, and future. It’s manifested by us, humans, to distinguish the three and we seem to forget its magnitude.
When I look back at the 19 years of my life, sometimes I catch myself stating that these years seem to have passed by like days but other times, I vividly remember my eighth birthday taking place 11 years ago.
A year in a dog’s lifespan might equate to 15 human years. Shorter winter days in the States mean longer summer days in Australia. One hour of Stranger Things doesn’t seem enough which explains our ability to binge watch the entire season in one sitting.
Time is unlimited.
Time is free.
Time is an illusion.
60 seconds pass in a minute and 60 minutes pass in an hour while 24 hours pass in a day and 365 days pass in a year. Yet, one year doesn’t seem to suffice our needs. But, is time responsible for our interpretation of such an abstract concept? A concept that paves our next move.
Is time to be blamed for our fluctuating perceptions of the seconds that pass by? Seconds that may change our lives drastically.
Do we define time or does time dictate our lives?
What is time?
I find myself asking these questions and every day my answer changes because as time passes by, so do we. We change. We evolve. We grow.
Every year is a new chapter. Every day is a new beginning. Every hour is a new awakening. Every second is a breath of fresh air.
1 year.
1 day.
1 hour.
1 second.
Tick Tock.
