Time is the one thing in this life that we will never be able to get back. Whether it be work, school, friendships, relationships, etc., everything in life requires time in order to groom and better understand it. Therefore, it is important to know when to invest it and when to simply move forward.

I always looked at time as something that simply existed. Something that society placed into our minds to make us feel like we have to perform a task in a certain manner at a certain rate. Until I realized that I won't be able to have the opportunities that I have before me. Time and opportunity are two of the most powerful components when used together effectively and appropriately. In order to hone, master, and share your craft, time must be placed into it. The saying, "Rome was not built in a day" comes to mind when I think of this concept. Yes, patience is truly a virtue, that a lot of today's society lacks. But, it can lead to some of the most wonderful manifestations that would not be possible if we didn't allow it to marinate.

From my current life perspective, friendships and relationships are one area where time can be completely wasted if we aren't careful. Understand: the amount of time you have known an individual does not coincide with the amount of bullshit you have to tolerate. Whether it be your friend of five months or the person who gave birth to you, when a situation is dead, stop trying to give life to it. Rather invest your time into a talent that can help better you in the long haul or in someone who is willing to help better you as an individual.

Taking control of who and what receives our time can be a life-changing power move. Own your time and use it to its entirety because you only have one life to live.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
