The Time is Nigh for October

Let us get our spooky on.

The month of October is here! With the new month beginning, the many exciting Fall rituals and events will begin. Ugg boots, sweatpants, oversized sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, and Halloween will all be starting or happening this month, and some will continue on until the end of Winter. So strap on those oversized clothing items and shoes; here are some activities some might want to start or join in on!

Horror movies are an essential part of Halloween. Even if you are a big wuss like me and do not want to watch them, they still need to be watched. Or at least watch something suspenseful, which I can do. However, whatever Halloween horror films you are looking forward to watching this month, plan on making a weekend out of it. Gather a few friends, make some ghoulish treats, gather all the soft cozy blankets, light some candles, and watch all the movies in one or two weekends. Something about friends and a movie marathon makes life problems go away for a solid weekend.

Next event that could be done that is not as spooky as the last idea is going to a pumpkin patch. Pumpkin patches aren't just for kids or toddlers, but adults too! There is something special about searching around in a pumpkin patch and finding the one. Just in case you lack the skill of picking a decent partner to date, pick the perfect pumpkin for you. It won't leave you out of the blue or eat all the pizza. Plus it does not nag at you, it just stares at you happily (if you gave it a happy face, that is).

Some other events that might be going on might even be at one of your local shops, whether it is just a sale or a raffle going on at a particular place, stop by and check the goodies out! Maybe there are costume contests happening at a craft store nearby, or even better, Halloween items going 80% off. Take the time to peruse around the neighborhood market and check out the Fall selections.

Just in case none of these call to you, you can also create an old fashion Halloween party. Those never get old. Or if you are a bit on the shy side, you could always binge watch Hocus Pocus and all the Casper movies in one night. There are no limits to the fun you could have during the month of October, you could even go outside now that it's not 100 degrees! Well, currently it's still that hot for us, sadly. Worse comes to worse, if you do not have the time to watch a movie or party, play some Monster Mash while you clean the house or some other spooky music.

There is no limit or chosen way to celebrate the month of October, whether it be going to Starbucks and getting the seasonal drink, or just jamming out to a Halloween tune, as long as you are celebrating, I'll like you a bit more than I did yesterday and you will probably feel the same too.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
