There are three things in life I pride myself on. My love for Jesus and people, a good skin care routine (thanks sis), and my time management skills. I do not say this to be prideful, but I am good at managing my time. I don't smack my gum and stare out the window all day. OK, I might smack my gum.
I have heard from so many of my peers that they are overwhelmed, stressed, etc. because of school work, work, trying to get in a workout, and having a social life. So, I've decided to put my day into a pie chart. I also want to make one thing clear. I have been blessed to have a job where I work from my computer and a vehicle that gets me places. Factors like those really affect a person's time and ability to do things. Also, I am not by any means saying that I'm perfect. I still meaninglessly scroll through Instagram and Facebook.
Let me take you through a typical Monday of mine, although it varies from day to day:
7:30 - wake up
7:45 - 8:30 - make and eat breakfast
8:45 - 10:00 - workout
10:15 - 11:10 - devotional, journal, shower, get ready
11:10 - 11:30 - make and eat lunch
11:30 - 11:45 - check emails
12:10 - 1:00 - class
1:10 - 2:00 - homework, study, emails, work
2:10 - 4:00 - class
4:10 - 7:00 - homework, study, emails, work, dinner
7:00 - 10:00 - church group meeting
10:30 - sleep
Like I said, it varies from day to day. Sometimes I have to squeeze in a club or group project meeting. Tuesdays are my laid-back days, and I take full advantage of that, where I do my laundry or go to a coffee shop to get homework done. It might seem like I have no social life, and I promise I do. Even looking at my own pie chart, I notice what I need to change in order to put more time into things that really matter.
But in all reality, it's time to stop complaining about not having time to get your stuff done. You do. Does the Netflix need to be turned off before 2 a.m.? Do you need to wake up before 8 a.m. to maximize your day? Do you need to food prep on Sundays (highly suggest)? Food for thought.
So, where do I get the motivation for time management skills? The only thing I am able to tell you is that I know what I need to do in order to be successful. For me, that means I am usually on my computer for a majority of my day. It also means, food prep Sunday's, homework a majority of the day on Saturday, no Netflix on weekdays, and getting my workout in at the beginning of the day even if I'm tired. Sacrifices equal success.
