A typical Thursday night in Kent State.

Thursday Nights At Kent State Told By Nick Miller

Here at Kent State, Thursdays are the last day of the week for us. Unless you have Friday classes, in which case, you usually ignore them and still check out for the week on Thursday. Lately, Kent State has talked about how they want to start enforcing Friday classes. We'll see how well that works out for them...

Even if that rule does get enforced, we will not stop the tradition. Kent State is widely known for going out on Thursdays. While not many schools understand, we don't expect them to, because anyone who doesn't go to Kent won't understand. For those of you who are reading and don't go to Kent, here is a look at what a typical Thursday night at Kent State would look like as told by Nick Miller from "New Girl."

When you first wake up from your nap and you try to get yourself pumped.

You are waiting for your friends to come over before to help you pick out an outfit.

You finally found the perfect outfit and you're ready to go!

When the uber arrives and everyone successfully makes it into the car.

You get to the bar and realize you're way too broke to be getting drinks, but you do it anyway.

When your friends get there and you're ready to tear up the dance floor.

It starts getting later in the night and you realize you have lost all capabilities to form a coherent sentence.

Therefore, you think it's a great time to go talk that guy over there.

You eventually find out what a mistake that was and beg for your friend to rescue you.

After that, you figure it's a good time for you to leave.

You wake up the next morning and your mouth feels like you just licked sandpaper.

Once your friends wake up you recap your entire night, trying to piece it together.

This may sound like a typical night at any college town on any weekend, but Thursday nights are what make Kent State into Kent State. Every college looks at us like we are crazy when we say, "we go out on Thursdays not Fridays; we use Fridays as our rest day."

Every other weekday before Thursday, we walk through classes and homework in zombie-like states with only our presence available, but not our actual being. So let us students sit and patiently wait for the next Thursday to come around. Although we might regret it when some of us, unfortunately, have to wake up Friday morning and go to class, it's not enough to stop us from going out every Thursday.

Don't fight try to fight the urge to go out, because you will regret not going more than going out and then waking up and feeling like crap. Kent State will always win and will always get the best of you every Thursday night. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
