Sometimes I will find myself thinking about old times, thinking about how quickly time passes by, thinking about all of the funny and exciting things I was able to do. I love going down memory lane. From elementary school carnivals to being swung into the air by my parents' linked hands, there is a long list of wonderful memories. It is time to throwback to when we were younger, more carefree and a lot cuter.
Do you remember how fun school carnivals were? I can remember the excitement going around about the upcoming carnival. I remember my mom and I getting all crafty and making a bunch of Jazzy Jars for the carnival. I remember us baking cakes or cupcakes for the cake walk. I loved getting tickets to do all of the fun booths. I remember my parents participating in the auction. We never knew what we would go home with.
I remember when my parents used to swing me by my arms as we walked through the parking lot. That was so much fun. We got too big for that real quick. I remember when my dad used to call me "Sweetie Pie." I remember when we used to go the Movie Gallery to rent a VHS tape. I remember when my parents used to throw me up into the air so I could land with a splash into the pool.
I remember going to Toys 'R' Us just to play the games they had there. I remember going to Books-a-Million and spending hours on the couches reading books. I could have done that every single day if I could have. I loved reading, and I still do. I remember having to read books to take Accelerated Reader (AR) computer tests. Honestly, I actually enjoyed those things. I remember school book fairs and how much I LOVED them. I remember going to the public library and renting books with my very own library card. I remember when my mom used to occasionally volunteer in my class at school, and I would get to drink her Mt. Dew while sitting in my second grade classroom.
I remember watching "Lord of the Dance" with my grandma and tap dancing around the living room, pretending I was a dancer too. I still love watching that. I remember having sleepovers with friends and making up dances to the fun songs of that day and age. I remember thinking I was so cool when I memorized the words of the newest rap or pop song. I actually still think I am cool when I do.
I remember watching "Legends of the Hidden Temple," a really cool interactive game show. I remember watching "Friends" with my parents while we waited for dinner. I remember using markers to make those cool lined sheets to put into the cover of my binder. I remember making fortune tellers and playing M.A.S.H. to see who I was going to marry, what house I was going to live in, and how many kids I was going to have. I laugh just thinking about it. I remember searching and finding through "I Spy" books.
I remember asking my mom to buy sparkling grape juice so that I could drink it out of a wine glass and pretend I was older. I thought I was the coolest. I remember watching endless NASCAR and WWE. I remember going to O' Charley's to eat free since I was under 10. I remember eating green mints and all of us seeing who's would last the longest. I remember being told whoever went to sleep first would get Skittles in the morning. I remember my mom scratching my back and rubbing my head, which is one of the best feelings ever.
I remember my grandma singing "She wore an itsy-bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini ..." I remember being little enough to be held by my parents. I remember how great we had it. I remember the good old times. Thankfully, I am still currently in the good times.
