"It's a bad habit," they say. Yes, they are correct. It is an absolutely grotesque habit that needs to be broken. As you see that man or woman walking down the street, dragging their smokey scent along their path, how does it make you feel? Do you begin to gag or wish you had a mask?
Every day, I see at least one person smoking a cigarette, and I think to myself: how do the people around them feel about their bad habit? Do their friends and family condone it or do they hate it? Are there resources available for them to quit? When did they begin? Why did they begin? While some of these questions seem weird to ask, why aren't they being asked?
Cigarettes have been on the market since 1865, and they continue to sell to this day. Companies like Marlboro and Camel are pushing their products, but new forms of e-cigarettes are making their way into the market.
These e-cigarettes, like Juuls and Vapes, are considered to be the "alternative" to traditional smoking methods, yet many do not realize the truth behind these vaporized smoking devices. For example, Juuls contain propylene glycol, which is the same compound found in antifreeze. Even worse, they contain Benzoic Acid, an acid extracted from Tobacco plants.
Isn't that a great way to maintain a healthy lifestyle? If that didn't make things worse, each Juul pod contains 0.7mL with 5% nicotine by weight as stated on their website. Thus, smoking one pod is similar to smoking a pack of cigarettes.
These "bad habits" look as though they are sticking around, but just remember, they are not always in the form that you would expect. E-cigarettes may not look at disgusting or leave the atrocious burning smell, but do not let them fool you, they are just as dangerous as the traditionally pack of cigarettes that you were always warned against.
