Walking in solitude I spotted her:
Cowering in the shadows
I moved closer to her
And she retreated further
So small she fell easily
Through the Looking Glass
Barely making out
Her appearance
I followed her
Raven Hair
Her Ivory Skin
Plummeting towards a new world
I free fall to the ground
She hits the ground running
Desperately fleeing my pursuit
I stand still and the world flies by me
Suddenly I’m alone
Standing on a rock
In the middle of a lake
She is staring at me from the sublime safety of the shore
The darkness blinds me
Slowly she steps into the light
The air flees my lungs as I try to scream
She is me.
Lonely, afraid, cowering,
Forever running.
And I run after after.
Frantically trying to figure her out.
Only to find
I’ve known her all along.
